University Professor in Theoretical Elementary Particle Physics

We seek to appoint a researcher of international repute in theoretical elementary-particle physics with established potential for outstanding future contributions to the field. Strong expertise is expected in one or more research areas of particular importance in contemporary high-energy physics, such as effective quantum field theories, flavor physics, collider physics, and precision calculations. The successful candidate should complement and extend the existing research activities in theoretical particle and astro-particle physics in Mainz. Close collaboration is desired with the research groups in the PRISMA+ Cluster of Excellence, which explores profound questions on the structure of matter, fundamental interactions, and their relevance to the physics of the universe.

The appointment requires participation in teaching activities in the Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science, where the field of theoretical physics needs to be covered in its full breadth. Applicants should have initial teaching experience and be prepared to further develop their pedagogical commitment and didactic skills.

Internships in Particle Physics - a Hands-On Research Experience

We are opening our doors to offer excellent students in physics outstanding learning and professional development opportunities in the Cluster of Excellence PRISMA+. We offer internships in theoretical high energy physics. For the time period of at least eight to twelve weeks our internship students support experienced researchers in the laboratories and PRISMA+ covers their accommodation costs and reimburse their travel expenses.
